How to Pack Fragile Items for an International Move

International moves involve more handling and longer transit times. Here's how to pack fragile items so they arrive safely.
General Rules
- Wrap individually: Every fragile item gets its own wrapping
- Fill all gaps: Items shouldn't move inside boxes
- Label clearly: Mark "FRAGILE" on all sides
- Don't overpack: Heavy boxes are more likely to be dropped
Glassware & Crockery
- Wrap each piece in packing paper, then bubble wrap
- Pack glasses upright, not flat
- Use cell dividers for wine glasses
- Plates should be packed vertically like records
- Fill box gaps with crumpled paper
Artwork & Pictures
- Tape an X across glass to prevent shattering
- Wrap in acid-free paper, then bubble wrap
- Use picture boxes or custom crates
- Mark "DO NOT LAY FLAT"
Electronics
- Original boxes are best if you have them
- Remove batteries from all devices
- Wrap screens in soft cloth, then bubble wrap
- Label cables so you know what goes where
